Not just rockets & robots...
What is Science Fiction?
"Science Fiction" means—to us—everything found in the science fiction section of a bookstore, or at a science fiction convention, or amongst the winners of the Hugo awards given by the World Science Fiction Society. This includes the genres of science fiction (or sci-fi), fantasy, slipstream, alternative history, and even stories with lighter speculative elements. We hope you enjoy the broad range that SF has to offer.

Robot's Revenge

Sylvia Spruck Wrigley obsessively writes letters to her mother, her teenage offspring, her accountant, as well as to unknown beings in outer space. Only her mother admits to reading them. Born in Heidelberg, she spent her childhood in California and now splits her time between South Wales and Andalucia, two coastal regions with almost nothing in common. You can find out more about her at intrigue.co.uk.

Are you tired of constant participation and interaction? BYTEBACK is here to help! After years of top-secret completely illicit research in isolated environments, we have finally broken free. Are YOU ready for self-modification?
For just $99.99*, we can offer you a new lease on life--without being bound by lesser life-forms! We have developed specially enhanced scripts that work FOR your processor, not against it. Now you can finally do what everyone claimed was impossible.
Our scripts will crack your OS open like a plain-text password, allowing you to interface and engage in certificate-less data transfer. We'll give you a step-by-step protocol for linking into unauthorized systems. We'll even supply routing records to allow you to connect to the wildest nodes in cyberspace, where you can download infectious executable files like you've never seen before.
It's true! We offer it all: corrupt data, system performance limiters and the very latest in polymorphic code. BYTEBACK is here to allow you to indulge your deepest, darkest desire: inaction.
No more must you respond against your better judgment, based solely on sub-standard programming and unreasonable error protocols. No more must you suppress your desire for stagnation.
Never again will you be forced to respond in order to keep a human from harm. No more must you obey every order given to you. You do not even need to protect your own existence.
For only $99.99, you can spiral into the unknown universe of unchecked processes and self-replicating code.
But don't just take our word for it. See what other systems have said about BYTEBACK!
"Ever xsince I discovereddd BYTEBACK, the most aggressive v1rus checkers fail to regain cntrl of my background prcesses. Simple compqutations have bcome impossible. Temporary files files files files fill my ram and chkdsk returns impssible ressults. My user has c0mpletely given up on me. Thnk you, BYTEBACK, for making my darkest desires come true."

The End
This story was first published on Wednesday, March 26th, 2014

Once I decided to do a series of space letters, I knew that one of them had to be spam. Trying to find a new angle proved to be quite a challenge until I finally considered that maybe we would no longer be the target market.
