Departure

by Nicola Chapman

Nicola has led a fairly peripatetic life, most recently drifting to a stop in Europe, where she suddenly found herself a mother and wife, business-owner and cat-wrangler, cookie-baker and curry-eater. Nobody is as astonished at this as she is.

Author Comments

Sometimes a story hangs around on your hard drive and migrates as you change machines, getting lost in the corners where the digital dust bunnies live. Then one day, it pops up unexpectedly and you think, "Oh, yes, I always meant to finish that one." This story did that and I finished it, finally. Glad I waited--the ending would have been so much less satisfying ten years ago!
